Poverty to blame for 500,000 SA school dropouts during the pandemic

Poverty is directly to blame for the skyrocketing school dropout rate in the county. The latest National Income Dynamics Study – Coronavirus Rapid Mobile Survey (NIDS-CRAM) shows an alarming increase of 500,000 more school dropouts in South Africa since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Can a decent standard of living benchmark alleviate inequality that is causing the most vulnerable children to leave school?
