The number of people with jobs increased by 2.7% from the same period in 2013, according to Statistics South Africa.The June 2014 Quarterly Employment Statistics (QES) survey showed that employment was up by 229 000 jobs year on year and the largest increase was in community services.
The agency said on Monday employment in the non-agriculture sector rose by 1.8% to 8.666 million people in the second quarter of 2014 compared with 8 511 000 employees the previous three months.
This reflected a quarterly increase of about 155 000 employees (+1,8%) between March 2014 and June 2014 and an annual increase of 229 000 employees (+2,7%) between June 2013 and June 2014.”
