“US-Africa Summit: Big opportunity or just another talk-shop?”

Kicking off on 4 August, and running for two more days, will be the US-Africa Leaders Summit. US President Barack Obama has invited the heads of state from fifty African nations to a massive pow-wow in Washington, DC to discuss the state of America’s relationship with the continent – and to look to a way forward for strengthening these ties. A key question, of course, is whether this will just be a feel-good, look-good exercise and excuse for a big group photograph or if some real, important outcomes can flow from this get-together.

The anticipation is that there will  key strategies and solutions  proposed to curb socio-economic challenges  that Africa is facing and America’s assistance to them. We await with sharp anxiety for the summit.
